PROS

• Fail-safe valve
• Greatly reduces any water loss due to a leaky station valve
• If your mainline breaks, the master valve allows the mainline to be repaired without shutting off the water supply
• Can be used in conjunction with a flow sensor and controller that detects flow rate change (Highly Recommended)

CONS

• Leaks can be overlooked when systems run at night
• Stretching and contracting of the pipe can occur leading to mainline pipe failure, especially at higher pressures
• Chances of water hammer can increase if there is a pinhole in the mainline or leak in a zone
